Welcome to the Blaenau Gwent & Torfaen Joint Local Development Plan
All Councils in Wales are legally required to produce a Local Development Plan (LDP) to guide the development and use of land and review / replace them every few years. An adopted LDP provides the policy framework for the determination of planning applications / appeals.
The Councils are preparing a new Joint Local Development Plan (JLDP) for Blaenau Gwent and Torfaen to supersede the existing Adopted LDPs for each County Borough.
The JLDP will help shape Blaenau Gwent and Torfaen to 2041 ensuring the right development happens in the right place at the right time.
The joint plan will seek to resolve inequalities across the joint plan area benefitting communities and the economy and setting out which areas need to be protected.
The area will have a stronger regional influence, strengthening our collective voice in regional and national forums and aligning with the Strategic Development Plan.
